Emergency Medical Technician
Duties and Responsibilities


  • Patient assessment
  • Burn management
  • Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR)
  • Emergency birth assistance
  • Extrication of patients from dangerous situations]
Salary:  $29,697-$37,780
Education:
To become an EMT you'll need a high school diploma or GED and formal emergency training. There are three levels of EMT training. The EMT-basic covers a variety of different tasks including dealing with fractures, bleeding, cardiac emergencies and respiratory emergencies.
Demand needed for this Profession:
Employment of emergency medical technicians (EMTs) and paramedics is projected to grow 24 percent from 2014 to 2024, much faster than the average for all occupations. Emergencies, such as car crashes, natural disasters, and acts of violence, will continue to create demand for EMTs and paramedics.          
Reflection: Do you think you would like to be one? Why or why not?
I think that I would like to be one because it this profession seems interesting and very helpful to others. Although it does seem like you need a lot of responsibility for this job I think I would be able to get this job if I wanted  to or if I tried.
