"I trust that my hard work will pay off."
~Tyler Haws

Tyler Haws has a natural gift of being a good basketball player. However, he knew he had to work hard to keep that gift, he didn't just sit there and ignore it, he knew how to appreciate it. Just like any of us, we might have special hidden talents or special gifts that we have but don't show or use them. Talents are to show everyone that you have something extra special and you need to embrace it. All it took Tyler was to work extra hard to get better at playing basketball. All we need to do is the same thing, whether it's singing, dancing, brightness, etc, we need to go for the extra and show everyone that you can do it. An example of an experience where my hard work payed off was when my time was almost coming where I had to sing at a place. I always thought I didn't have to practice because I knew I could get ready 5 minutes before the actual moment, but this time I tried to practice. I practice the songs for two weeks and in the actual day I felt better about singing them. I did't feel nervous and I knew I did a good job. That si why hard work pays off, not laziness.

"True independence and freedom can only exist in doing what's right."
~Brigham Young
Brigham Young shows us that only by doing what is right, is going to lead us to our independence and freedom. To some people freedom is being able to stand up for what they believe and be able to do what they like without anyone holding them back. Also, independence to some is being able to be successful in what they've worked for so hard. All is these sayings are correct, and the only thing left to do is to work towards it by being good, doing what's right and doing what 's necessary. Anyone can say or do anything to try to bring others down, but ignoring them and keeping your head up is the best and only way to go.

"They're only truly great who are truly good."
~George Chapman
George Chapman tells us that only the people who are good are the ones who are great; if someone says they are great, but their heart is not good of good actions or deeds, then they are just selfish with a high self esteem. However, if someone does and shows good action and deeds to others, they are the greatest of all since their heart is actually pure without selfishness in it. If you want to become one of the great people you just have to try and become a better person. How? Well first off you need to let go of all of the ego in you. No one sees or cares what's on the outside but if they do, what really matters is what you have on the inside. After you've accomplished this, you have to make good acts to others. Give out what you don't need, give out what others need, and say what others need to hear. This way, you will be one of the greatest people everyone would like to hear about.

"Many think that the short term gain will be worth the long term pain, but it isn't. In addition, using steroids is cheating, and there is nothing worse is sports than a cheater. Don’t do it."
~George Mitchell

George, and like many others, believe that cheating is the worst thing that can happen in sports or in any other situations. In reality no one likes a cheater, the cheater only likes itself. However, sometimes even the reasons for why people cheat is astonishing. People have ideas like, "Oh, I want to be the best at this", or, " I better win the bet." Does it matter what the reason is? Cheating takes out the goals and the main reason of the game. The moral of a game is to enjoy and think of everyone as winners because we are. Once you cheat you will think that you've made it, but really you've only cheated your way into success. This is also called being lazy. The right way to work into success is by doing things the right way and enjoying every second of your own work and accomplishments.

"I won't cheat."
~Dale Murphy
Image

Dale Murphy shows us how everything's possible if we try, but if we think we're not even good enough o and cheat, then there's no point in feeling confident or happy about it. No one likes a cheater, it takes away the point in the competition and the sincerity of the person. The point of a game or competition, is to strike and have your mind in the finish line since the beginning. Your goal is to win, and win first. If you go towards cheating then your mind is somewhere else. At the end of the competition, if you didn't win you know you tried your best and you also had fun. If you did win, let's hope it was trying and not from selfishness, you want to be proud of what you've done but not brag too much about it.

"Character matters most."
~Dale Murphy
Image

Character matters most means that what you do creates who you are. For example, if you're an aggressive person, people will see your character as an aggressive person. But, if you do the opposite, people will see you for how you are. It doesn't matter what people think of you, but the reflection you give to others and how you treat them is very important. In order to succeed in life and with others, you need to learn how to to build a strong character. Having this will make others respect you, people will love you by who you are, and your friends and family will know that you are responsible and have a great way in character and life.
St. Patrick's Day
Saint Patrick's Day, or the Feast of Saint Patrick (Irish: Lá Fhéile Pádraig, "the Day of the Festival of Patrick"), is a cultural and religious celebration held on 17 March, the traditional death date of Saint Patrick (c. AD 385–461), the foremost patron saint of Ireland.
Image
Who was Saint Patrick? At the age of 16, Patrick was taken prisoner by a group of Irish raiders who were attacking his family’s estate. They transported him to Ireland where he spent six years in captivity. During this time, he worked as a shepherd, outdoors and away from people. Lonely and afraid, he turned to his religion for solace, becoming a devout Christian. After more than six years as a prisoner, Patrick escaped. According to his writing, a voice—which he believed to be God’s—spoke to him in a dream, telling him it was time to leave Ireland. After escaping to Britain, Patrick reported that he experienced a second revelation—an angel in a dream tells him to return to Ireland as a missionary. After his ordination as a priest, he was sent to Ireland with a dual mission: to minister to Christians already living in Ireland and to begin to convert the Irish. The Irish culture centered around a rich tradition of oral legend and myth. When this is considered, it is no surprise that the story of Patrick’s life became exaggerated over the centuries—spinning exciting tales to remember history has always been a part of the Irish way of life. The purpose of St. Patrick
What is the purpose of Saint Patrick's Day? Irish way of life. The purpose of St. Patrick's Day is to celebrate the Roman Catholic feast day of the patron saint of Ireland, St. Patrick, who died on March 17, 461.
Why is St. Patrick's Day designated on March 17? March 17 is the death day of St. Patrick, so Irish (or us people) specifically celebrate it on this day.

Why is green the certain color on this day? St. Patrick's revelers thought wearing green made one invisible to leprechauns, fairy creatures who would pinch anyone they could see (anyone not wearing green). People began pinching those who didn't wear green as a reminder that leprechauns would sneak up and pinch green-abstained.

"Great beauty, great strength, and great riches are really and truly of no great use; a right heart exceeds all."
~Benjamin Franklin
Image

This quote is talking about physical beauty. It is telling us that we shouldn't be worrying about this. Not because it's bad, but it's of no use. Meaning no one enjoys it except you, and you enjoying physical and economic beauty and riches can lead to terrible things. One thing this can lead you to is murder. Murder to your own soul. Nothing will matter to you no more, and sometimes you can even forget about those you love. So, to stay away from things that will destroy you, you can focus on other things like your heart. You can worry on feeding it with goods and love from real things that won't turn you into a monster. You can go love someone if you don't already, because isn't that the best thing thing to do?

"It may make a difference to all eternity whether we do right or wrong today"
~ James Freeman Clarke
Image

James Freeman Clarke believes that our future depends on the choices we make right now. I believe this is true, what else can your future be made of? You decide what to do, what you’re doing, or what your going to do. This all depends on the present and the future. The things you did in the past were also depending on you. For example, you decide to take a break from school after graduating. What do you get out of it? Really, not much. It will be difficult for you to find a job, you'll be living with your parents in your adulthood (because you don't want to go study, earn money and make a living for yourself), you will be seen as a lazy person, and you won't be happy at all. And this all started with your choice of taking a break from school. Never make a decision to fast because you'll need time to think about the consequences in the future.
Ophthalmologist
Image
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • While ophthalmologists can be thought of generically as 'eye doctors' and perform some of the same duties as optometrists, they differ in that ophthalmologists perform eye surgery and treat eye diseases. Ophthalmologists also examine eyes and prescribe contact lenses and glasses.
Salary: $230,438-$313,559
Education:
  • Students typically complete a bachelor's program, a 4-year Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) program and a 3-year ophthalmology residency in a hospital.
Demand:
  • The demands on ophthalmologists is driven by the increasing graying of American society, there is also an expected increase in demand for care of younger patients. According to data from the U.S. Census Bureau, based on the 2000 census, the population of Americans age 65 years and older is expected to increase by 36% by 2020, 79% by 2030 and 120% by 2050. Projected growth among individuals 85 years and older is expected to jump almost 15%, 52% and 231% during that same time.

Reflection: I believe that the Ophthalmologist profession is part of the eye doctor family. Eye doctors are very special and talented in their jobs, however I don’t think this profession is my passion. I do still think that is a very interesting job and studying/knowing about the human eye is great.

"The best way to predict your future is to create it"
~Charles Ketterer
Image
Have you ever thought about how your future was going to be, or what will happen 2 years from now, or when you graduate? Well Charles Ketterer says that the best way to know, is by actually creating your own future. How? Well, many people like to imagine things and say that they will do something but at the end – they do nothing. However, you can change that by writing down some goals you have to start off with. After this, you can read them everyday and get inspired by them. Finally, you can boost up and start doing the first goals you've written down. After you completed your goals, you can start writing more and more. This will lead you to your future, but you will be the one writing it down and making it happen.

Many colleges and universities offer short certificate and diploma programs, though some also incorporate the training into an associate degree program. Non-traditional training options might include teaching hospitals or a branch of the military.

Reflection: I think I would know many people who would be encouraged to be a Operating Room Technician. However, I don't think this jobs fits for me because I like doing things independently. No matter what, this is a very important job for our community and others.

"Ask yourself is it right or wrong and act accordingly."
~Otto Graham, Jr.
Image

Otto Graham was a great football player, and he is also great at making right choices. Before making an action, it is always important to see whether it's a right or wrong idea. Going out to a bar with friends? Definitely a bad idea. Staying home and finishing your homework, great idea. Our paths depend on our decisions in life, and when we decide to go the wrong way we move into the wrong pathways in life. To make sure we're choosing the right ideas in our life, you think before you act. This helps you think and take your time to decide.

Demand:
As preventive medicine specialists, occupational physicians are in high demand as primary care providers. The American College of Occupational and Environmental Medicine (ACOEM), founded in 1916, today represents just 4,500 American physicians, compared to the estimated 209,000 in primary care in the United States, and 624,434 overall physicians involved in direct patient care.

Reflection: The Occupational Medicine Physician has a great demand in my belief. This makes me think that there are a great number of students and people who are willing to become one someday. Also, maybe they have already started there education requirements to this profession. However, I think I can stick to something less about reading and doing, and more about action.

"Act well your part; there all honor lies."  ~Alexander Pope

Image

In this quote by Alexander Pope, it means that honor lies in whatever you do. You show it in your everyday life, we all do. Our honor doesn't depend on how great we are, look, or act but it's built in what we do and how we show it. Honor is what you do when you think twice in doing the wrong, "Should I do it or not?" Whatever you decide is the honor you have. Whether you choose, the right or the wrong. To be a good honored person, you need to show everyone who you are. Who you are also depends on you, and your life. Live well and you will be a well known honored person.
Nursing Home Administrator

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Nursing home administration is a specialized area of medical and health services management. Typical duties of nursing home administrators include overseeing staff and personnel, financial matters, medical care, medical supplies, facilities, and other duties as specific positions demand.

Salary: $94,540-$118,295

Education Required:
  • Being a nursing home administrator requires a minimum of a bachelor's degree in healthcare administration. However, most nursing home administrators have master's degrees in long-term care administration, health services administration, public health or business administration.

Demand for this Profession:
  • Nursing home administrators are in high demand, which makes job hunting relatively short for qualified persons. Income is very lucrative with a six-figure average yearly salary and great benefits. Nursing home administrators work in a comfortable, medical office setting without spending much time at the bedside.

Reflection: I believe that a Nursing Home Administrator would have the biggest responsibility in taking care of their patient. If they get paid well with their salary, and there is almost full space for them, then I think I would someday like to get the challenge of becoming the greatest Nursing Home Administrator.
