Operating Room Technician
Image
Duties and Responsibilities:
Reports directly to the Nursing Team Leader - SurgiCenter and responsible for maintaining and keeping the operating room before the conduct of surgery. Assists in bringing the patient to the operating room and handles the preparations before and after surgery by washing and disinfecting the area for surgery.
Salary: $45,287
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent and completion of an accredited postsecondary surgical technology program.
Demand:
The BLS reported that operating room technicians usually need to complete some form of formal education in the field. Many colleges and universities offer short certificate and diploma programs, though some also incorporate the training into an associate degree program. Non-traditional training options might include teaching hospitals or a branch of the military.

Reflection: I think I would know many people who would be encouraged to be a Operating Room Technician. However, I don't think this jobs fits for me because I like doing things independently. No matter what, this is a very important job for our community and others.
